Which Wrestler Will Win the 87 kg Olympic Gold Medal?

Hungarians say that David Losonczi will be the 87 kg Olympic champion in Paris. The United World Wrestling had previously expected a showdown between this wrestler and Ali Cengiz at the European Championships, which did not happen.

Losonczi and Cengiz had shared the gold at the 2023 World Championships. Ali Cengiz, however, won his gold in Belgrade and was declared the winner by the referee, but the Hungarian Wrestling Federation's appeal led to a review of the footage a few days after the World Championships.

The United World Wrestling, which had distributed two gold medals in one weight class a few months earlier due to a refereeing error in the World Youth Wrestling Championship, announced after reviewing the footage of the 87 kg final in Serbia that Losonczi's pinfall of Cengiz was evident. Therefore, to ensure that the Hungarian wrestler's rights were not infringed, and considering that it is not possible to change the winner after the match has ended, two gold medals were distributed in this weight class. The second gold medal was awarded to Losonczi a few days later, making this weight class have two champions with no runner-up.

However, Losonczi and Ali Cengiz faced each other in the Budapest tournament, where the Hungarian wrestler won. Losonczi did not participate in the final due to an injury, allowing Bulgarian wrestler Novikov to become the champion.

In the 87 kg bronze medal match, Ali Cengiz lost 10-4 to Mohammad Hossein Mahmoudi, while Losonczi had defeated the Iranian wrestler 5-3.

Although Mahmoudi wrestled in Budapest, Iran's representative in this weight class at the Olympics will be Alireza Mohammadi, who is considered the top contender in this weight class and secured his Olympic quota by winning the silver medal in the 82 kg weight class at last year's World Championships and the Asian qualifiers.

Who do you think, among the numerous contenders in this highly competitive weight class, will win the 87 kg Olympic gold, especially considering the fearless and combative Alireza Mohammadi who does not fear any wrestler's name?
